Aptera Villa Chania in the villages surrounding Chania has become very famous in recent years, and we are proud to say that Villa Aptera is one of the best. Megala Chorafia is extremely convenient to both the city’s nightlife and sunny beaches like Kalives, yet it has not become completely overrun with holiday-makers, and retains the charm of its quiet, rural past. Kalives village, only 4km away, is an agricultural market centre by the seaside with many restaurants, coffee places and souvenir shops. The beach, extending for 300 m, just before the entrance of the village is of golden sand with aquamarine waters. Stroll down the amazing narrow village lanes that lead to the central square of the village with the large plane tree. In Kalyves you can find a big supermarket, car rental companies, butchers and bakeries, many dining choices and a bank.
Almyrida village, 9km away, is today a small seaside tourist resort. The two small sandy beaches are very popular during the summer, especially for families and young persons that enjoy combining their suntan with fresh local fish by the bay. In Almyrida you can find a good number of seaside taverns, a butcher, two mini markets, a car rental company and an ATM. You can also book boat trips for snorkeling in the caves and take diving lessons from a local company. Almirida is an ideal base for exploring many picturesque inland villages, mountain gorges and some of the island's best beaches and sheltered bays nearby.
Chania, the capital of West Crete, is only 30 minutes’ drive and has a beautiful Venetian Harbour with a fascinating history. Wander through the many narrow lanes filled with Venetian, Turkish and Byzantine style buildings. You can also find all the facilities and amenities that you would expect of a modern city with fine restaurants, bars, clubs, live music, traditional harbor side taverns and fashionable shops.
You will have the opportunity to hire a car or bicycle or even take a boat ride along the coast. Many of the best scenery can be seen on foot. There are many mountain paths and gorges including the world famous Samaria Gorge. Other activity pursuits include horse riding, tennis, golf, go-karting and climbing. Most water sports are available including, diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, sailing, fishing, jet skiing and water-skiing.
There are also many Health & Fitness centers offering a range of beauty treatments and alternative therapies including massage, reflexology, reiki and yoga. Cultural interests include museums, archaeological sites, ancient towns, churches, monasteries, folklore festivals, theatre and cinemas (open air during the summer).
